Our Accessibility Pledge

Last updated: February 28, 2026

Community events are for everyone. That is the whole point of Party Book — to help people come together, raise money for causes they care about, and build real connections with their neighbors. We believe that vision only holds up if our platform is genuinely usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

This page is our pledge to you. Not a legal disclosure. Not a checkbox. A genuine commitment from our team about how we think about accessibility and what we are doing about it.

Our Commitment

We strive to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards across Party Book. We are a small team, which means we will not always get it right on the first try — but we take accessibility seriously, we treat reported barriers as real bugs, and we are committed to continuous improvement.

Our goal is not compliance for its own sake. We want every person who visits our platform — whether they are browsing events, buying tickets, or managing a fundraiser — to have an experience that works for them.

What We Are Doing

Here are the concrete things we do to make Party Book more accessible:

  • Semantic HTML throughout the application, so assistive technologies can understand page structure and navigate it meaningfully.
  • Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements — every button, link, form field, and modal can be reached and operated without a mouse.
  • Screen reader compatibility using ARIA labels and roles where native semantics are not sufficient.
  • Color contrast that meets WCAG AA standards, so text is readable for people with low vision or color vision differences.
  • Responsive design that works across screen sizes, from large desktop monitors to small mobile screens.
  • Clear, readable typography with sufficient sizing and line spacing to reduce reading fatigue.
  • Labeled form fields and descriptive error messages so assistive technology users can complete checkouts and forms without guesswork.
  • Alt text on images so people using screen readers get meaningful descriptions of event photos and visual content.

For Event Organizers

Accessibility does not stop at our platform — it extends to the events you host. We encourage organizers to think about who might be coming through the door and to make that information easy to find upfront.

A few things that go a long way:

  • Include accessibility details in your event description — wheelchair access, step-free entry, accessible restrooms, parking availability, and anything else attendees might need to know before they commit to a ticket.
  • If your event includes an ASL interpreter, live captioning, or other accommodations, say so. It matters to people who rely on those supports, and it often increases attendance.
  • Consider venue accessibility when choosing a location. A great event in an inaccessible space excludes real people in your community.
  • When sharing event materials — menus, schedules, maps — provide formats that work for people who cannot engage with image-only content.

Known Limitations

We are honest with ourselves: Party Book is a work in progress. As we build new features and ship updates, accessibility gaps can appear. Some areas of the platform may not yet fully meet the standards we are aiming for.

If you run into a barrier — something you cannot do, a page that does not work with your assistive technology, or content that is difficult to read — we want to know about it. Reports from real users are the most valuable signal we have.

Feedback and Contact

We actively welcome accessibility feedback — from people who use assistive technology, from organizers thinking about their attendees, and from anyone who notices something we missed. Your input directly shapes how we prioritize improvements.

To share feedback or report an accessibility issue, email us at support@ourpartybook.com. We aim to respond within 2 business days.

Thank you for helping us build something that works for everyone.
